The image of Lithuania, formed by subcultures and their evolution
The image of country is being formed not only by unique architecture, history, nature. People have particular impact on the country’s "face". Neither government representatives, nor artists or athletes have the greatest impact on the image, but ordinary citizens, met by tourists in cafes, streets and those with whom they contact (willingly or unwillingly).
Skins, punks, rockers, hippies, goths, emo, and others – they are everywhere, we notice them by their appearance, behaviour, we avoid some of them, some of them can be interesting, however we don’t dare to communicate with them. The main goal of this workshop is understanding the essence of the subcultures life, purposes, to understand how do they behave, interact with the environment and foreigners and how do they perceive their influence on the country’s image formation. Moreover, historical issues will be: how did subcultures and their influence on the youth changed during the time. All this we’ll try to work out by discussing, interviewing members of different subcultures, visiting places they like to be.
Don’t expect to steal along easily, you will get homework for sure! We have planned some trips and meetings with representatives of subcultures, so comfortable footwear is necessary :) .
